The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Corporate Asset Management, this role is responsible for leading the management of effective departmental asset management plans for various operating departments which includes a diverse group of assets but focused mainly at the Town’s roads, bridges, culverts and stormwater infrastructure. Based on the 2018 AM Plan, the Town owns and operates infrastructure assets with a replacement value of nearly $1.5 billion, of which roads and stormwater account for 44% and 37% of the total assets by replacement value, respectively. The scope of work includes coordinating the development and implementation of asset management policies, strategies, decision frameworks, processes, and tools in alignment with the Town’s long terms goals and vision. This position will lead the implementation of the Town’s Corporate Asset Management program to meet the Ontario Regulation 588/17 requirements (O.Reg. 588/17). As the Advisor, Asset Management, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
Developing, sustaining and updating an asset management plan (focused on core assets), including strategies, policies and procedures
Coordinate service area departmental asset management plans (focused on core assets) and support the development and integration with the Corporate Asset Management Plan with Program stakeholders that will be used to guide the Programs’ short term operational and long-term capital plans
Liaise with stormwater group improve confidence in stormwater inventory across all sub-asset categories, validate and record condition in Citywide, and monitor and record levels of service
Develop a longer-term financial strategy to obtain funding to meet the requirements of the Town-wide AMP (e.g. tax increases / debt financing /other funding required to meet the replacements required based on Council-approved levels of service and condition of the assets)
Develop priority for projects that fit within the budget (funding) envelope based on AM and obtain consensus with staff asset experts/managers from various departments/divisions

The successful candidate for Advisor, Asset Management will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an enthusiastic professional with a post-secondary Degree or Technologist Diploma in Civil Engineering, Building Construction, or a closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in municipal asset/infrastructure management. A certificate or diploma in Asset Management, Project Management Professional (PMP), or other relevant designations are considered an asset.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and a practical understanding and experience with Citywide and GIS. We are seeking someone with technical knowledge and understanding of municipal Asset Management (data, levels of service, risk, capital planning and policy development) and a functional understanding and application of all current and future relevant Asset Management legislation. We are seeking an individual with superior project management skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to deliver information and presentations to senior management, and strong strategic thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
This position offers a salary range of $83,310.20 - $102,097.99 plus a competitive benefit package.
