Construction Inspector Job

Profile

Qualifications:
High School Diploma, Construction Management Associate Degree and 0 to 5 years' experience.
Conscientious, decisive, proactive, team-oriented, and quality focused.
Construction Administration on the following types of projects: storm and sanitary sewers, lift stations, water distribution, earthen embankments, spillways, roads, bridges, lighting, signing, traffic signals, trails, and streetscapes.
Experience with SiteManager a plus.
Responsibilities:
Performs full time site-observation for projects as assigned under the supervision of Project Engineers or Supervisors.
Inspects contractor's work for conformance with project specifications
Maintains daily record of instructions and directions given to the contractor regarding plan and specification interpretation
Coordinates with contractor and testing labs for any materials testing required by the project specifications
Measures, calculates and documents installed and accepted quantities for payment on contractor's pay request
Coordinates construction activities with residents, utility companies and other public agencies (e.g. INDOT, cities, counties) to ensure safety during project
Attends preconstruction and progress meetings
Reviews and approves traffic control plans for safety and coordinates road closures with emergency services
Initiates project close out documents
Inspects trench backfill, sub-grade and aggregate base course for grade, compaction, moisture, preparation for paving, installation of water lines, sewer and storm drains
Responds to emergency call outs on construction projects
Responds to and resolves public inquiries and complaints related to construction project and development
Obtains and maintains various certifications
