Sr Model Developer - Vulnerability in Chicago!The vulnerability modeler will be part of Impact Forecasting vulnerability team focused on the development of vulnerability solutions for different atmospheric perils. The role responsibilities include, but are not limited to development, calibration, and validation of vulnerability functions for different perils, detailed claims analysis etc. The position is full-time and is in Chicago, IL.Role Responsibilities:Development and calibration of customized vulnerability functions.Evaluate building codes, building industry data, and construction practices by regions.Use Impact Forecasting proprietary loss modeling platform ELEMENTS in estimating loss.Actively collaborate with R&D team and software development teams in all aspects of model development.Provide critical analysis of modeling results for internal validation of models and explaining results to clients when needed.Implementation of the model into unified catastrophe modeling platformThis individual will be expected to assist, with management and other senior level individuals, in the developing and mentoring junior team membersSkills and experience that will lead to success:M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (required).Proficiency in data analysis and excellent programming skills in MATLAB, Python, or R (required).Problem solving skills, collaborative attitude, willingness to learn (required).Experience working with insurance claims data and building custom vulnerability models (required).Experience with MS products – Word, PowerPoint, Excel (required).User level experience with SQL, ArcGIS, QGIS is useful (preferred).3-5 year of experience in catastrophe modeling (preferred).How we support our colleagues In addition to our comprehensive benefits package, we encourage a diverse workforce.
