JOB OVERVIEW

The University of Cincinnati (UC) Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management (CAECM) in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) invites applications for a non-tenure track position as Assistant or Associate Professor Educator of Civil Engineering (salary and rank commensurate with credentials). The position is intended to be a long-term appointment. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2022. The position is a 9-month full-time appointment, paid over 12 months with full University faculty benefits.

 

CAECM offers accredited undergraduate degrees in Civil Engineering, Construction Management and Architectural Engineering as well as Master's and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering.

 

Final Rank/Title commensurate with credentials.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

*Developing and delivering undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of Civil Engineering. *Course load will be 6-8 courses per year. The successful candidate will be expected to teach classes in the following areas:  undergraduate soil mechanics and associated laboratory, deep and shallow foundations at the undergraduate and graduate levels, basic mechanics at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and soil mechanics at the graduate level.  *The successful candidate will be also be expected to participate in departmental service such as serving on departmental committees, advising student groups, and participating in recruitment activities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Prior to effective date of appointment, PhD in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Geotechnical Engineering and the following:

*Minimum of 2 academic years of US university level teaching experience in civil engineering which must include geotechnical or structural engineering. *Minimum of 3 years of US construction industry experience in geotechnical or structural engineering.
