Even as fall in home sales hits employment in the construction industry, jobs continue to be added by ConstructionCrossing

Pasadena, CA — Employment in the construction industry has declined in 25 states between April and May according to data from the Associated General Contractors of America. This is in direct relation to the unexpected dip in home sales in May. The National Association of Realtors reported that the sale of existing homes fell 2.2 percent in May.

The Associated General Contractors of America has reported that it expects the industry to continue shedding workers until demand for new housing, office, retail and local public construction improves. New York was the state with most job losses during the past month (9,800), and Wyoming showed the highest loss in terms of percentage (6.5 percent, 1,500 jobs).

But, there is still reason to feel optimistic because there are still jobs available throughout the country for construction workers, supervisors, managers and engineers. ''The construction industry is very cyclical and regional in terms of employment. While the industry has lost jobs in half the states, there are 22 states and the DC area where demand did go up'' says A. Harrison Barnes, CEO of ConstructionCrossing. ''We even found jobs in New York and Michigan, the two states that are among the hardest hit in the construction industry.''

ConstructionCrossing aims to update its website with all of the most recent construction industry jobs. The website has over 479,000 jobs in the construction field.

Testimonial of the Week

What I liked about the service is that it had such a comprehensive collection of jobs! I was using a number of sites previously and this took up so much time, but in joining EmploymentCrossing, I was able to stop going from site to site and was able to find everything I needed on EmploymentCrossing.
