Quickie Manufacturing Corp., the largest maker of cleaning tools in the U.S., had once again redefined home cleaning with the Home-Pro with Microban. North America's first full line of mops and scrub brushes engineered with Microban Antimicrobial Product Protection is designed specifically to combat stain and odor causing bacteria throughout the life of the product.
''Any conscientious consumer in today's marketplace recognizes the need for effective cleaning tools, and the new Home-Pro line with Microban protection revolutionizes products that were once a breeding ground for odor and stain-causing bacteria and mold,'' said Vince Cella, chief marketing officer for Quickie. ''Microban protection provides consumers with peace of mind and protection by adding a lifetime of cleanliness to these products.''
Because bacteria counts can double every 20 minutes when left untreated, this technology provides unmatched antimicrobial protection allowing the tools to stay cleaner and fresher longer than ever before.
Included in the Microban line are:
- Automatic scrub-a-mop
- Automatic sponge mop
- Automatic mop and scrub
- Premium wet mop
- Ring-a-mop
- Soap dispensing dishwasher
- Utility brush
- Tile and grout brush
- Scrub brush
- Mini scrub brush
- Bowl brush and caddy
- Plunger and caddy
- Various brooms
The Microban small wares (scrub brushes, etc.) range in price from $4 to $7 while the stick goods (mops and brooms) retail for $10 to $17.
Consumers can easily identify Quickie cleaning tools with Microban antimicrobial protection thanks to a new blue marbleizing effect that has been engineered into both the fiber and sponge of the products.

Anyone who's ever had a bird fly into the window knows that horrible bang, then the helpless feeling of watching the poor thing struggle with a broken wing...or worse.
Birds fly into windows because the windows reflect the sky, making them look like open space. Save the Bird UV Decals attach to the outside of windows by static cling (no gooey glue to scrape off) and project a solid blue image. The decals reflect ultraviolet sunlight, which birds can see, but which are invisible to humans.
There are several images available including snowflakes, leaves, stars, hummingbirds, butterflies, spider webs and hawks. Prices for a pack range from $6 to $10 and the number of decals in each pack varies.
There are also other bird-saving devices available from manufacturers Duncraft.com, including hanging feathers, visible-to-humans hawk decals, and others.
Duncraft.com also offers these tips for stopping birds from colliding into your windows:
- Hang light-colored material, like white drapes or blinds, behind the glass to reduce open-sky reflections.
- Hang ribbon, strings of feathers or other material in strips no more than 6 inches apart on the outside of your windows.
- Place feeders within 3 feet of windows or directly on the window glass. Feeding close to the house prevents birds from striking windows at a high rate of speed.
- Cover windows with netting, preferably soccer-net grade. Leave space between the glass and netting, as it will act as a trampoline if birds should hit.
