Work on a nine-mile cable barrier along Highway 395 between Minden and Carson City begins this month. The barrier, worth $1.6 million, will make the highway safer and prevent head-on collisions on the four-lane highway while allowing proper drainage. The barrier will not remove any left-turn lanes on the highway and will run from just north of Muller Lane to just south of Jacks Valley Road. The construction, managed by Coral Construction Co. of Wilsonville, OR, is more cost-effective than building a wall and will serve the same purpose.
